Location: Rosemont Drive, Vancouver, BC
Project Scope: Foundation Obstruction Removal
Duration: 2 Hours
In the residential construction world, a single buried boulder can bring an entire crew to a standstill. That was the case on Rosemont Drive in Vancouver, where a massive rock was discovered exactly where a new foundation footing needed to go. Rock Busters was called in for an “express split” to keep the project on schedule.
The Challenge
The boulder was partially embedded and located in a tight excavation trench. Bringing in a large excavator with a hydraulic hammer would have been too costly and risked collapsing the trench walls. The client needed a surgical solution that could be executed immediately.
The Solution: The 2-Hour Turnaround
We dispatched a 2-person crew specialized in rapid-response residential clearing. Using our compact, high-performance equipment, we handled the job in a single morning.
Tight-Access Drilling: Our team used handheld rock drills to prep the boulder within the narrow confines of the foundation trench.
Pneumatic Splitting: We utilized our pneumatic splitter to fracture the rock silently. This eliminated the vibration that could have compromised the surrounding soil or nearby structures.
Immediate Results: From the first drill bit hitting the rock to the final crack, the entire process took only 2 hours, allowing the forming crew to get back to work the same morning.
