A stone splitter consists of a central wedge and two side feathers. The wedge is placed between the feathers, which are inserted into a drilled hole.
Procedure
- Select a splitting line along natural cracks if possible.
- Drill holes about 20 cm apart, closer for harder or thicker stone. Depth should be at least one-third of the stone’s thickness.
- Insert the feathers into each hole, place the wedge between them, and hammer evenly along all holes.
- The stone will usually split within minutes.
The tools are reusable. Work with caution on unstable slopes.
Sizes we have:
| Hole diameter | Length | Weight |
| ¾” (20mm) | 7.5” (190mm) | 1.1 lb (0.5 kg) |
| 1” (24mm) | 7.87” (200mm) | 1.3 lb (0.6 kg) |
| 1 ¼ ” (32mm) | 10.6” (270mm) | 3.3 lb (1.5 kg) |
| 1 ½” (38mm) | 12.8” (325mm) | 4.6 lb (2.1 kg) |
| 1 ½” (38mm) | 23.6” (600mm) | 13.2 lb (6 kg) |
ROCK-X is perfect for small to medium sized projects, where 1” – 2” diameter holes are drilled. Small cracks can begin to appear as early as 6 hours, however, waiting for 12 – 48 hours will result in more extensive and wider cracks. Expansion/cracking can occur for up to 2 weeks. In cooler weather, expansion and cracking is slower.

Products & Tools To Get The Job Done
Rock Busters is here to help ensure your project has all the tools and products you need to get the job done quickly and efficiently. Feel free to contact us for any questions.
These are fitted to use with Our RockPro 50mm Hydraulic Splitters. Both the supply and return line are put into the Remote Valve, continued through the Hydraulic circuit and attached to the splitter in the rock. The operator will then be able to activate the equipment without touching the splitter itself. This accessory is IDEAL when breaking larger unstable rocks that you don’t want your guys standing on when it breaks, especially if the boulder is on a slope.
